Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team picked up a win in non-conference action at the Tom Hay Invitational against Western Connecticut State University. The Hawks took a full five games to mount a comeback win against the Colonials, with match scores of 19-30, 30-17, 12-30, 30-25, and 15-4.
The highlight of the match was when senior Amy Maurer (Madbury, N.H.) set a new Roger Williams record for kills in a career, eclipsing the record of 1,016 set by Erin Carolan in 2006.
"It was really exciting to see Amy set a new record" said Head Coach Bret Stothart. "It was also a great win for the team. They came back to finish strong in the end" he said.
The Hawks will play three more games on Saturday in the Invitational hosted by Springfield College. Roger Williams takes on Plymouth State at 9:00 a.m., Western New England College at 11:00 a.m. and Randolph College at 3:00 p.m.
